Mine just broke. five years old, one cD fell off of the part that spins, got stuck in the back, which required that the stereo be taken apart, just to retrieve it. Now, it's broken, and it cracked one of my CD's in half! Never buying one of those again! Sorry for the incomplete sentences. just had to vent.

I'd say five years is a pretty good track record for electronics made these days. Yeah, I have owned two CD changers in my life and the portable one by Sharp would always jam. Those things ahve more moving parts so are more likely to break down. I now have a nice single-disc stereo by Panasonic which I feel is excellent and it plays MP3 files fom CDs! So if you decide to get a new one I'd recommend trying to find a Panasonic, as they're well-made.

Thank you for the recommendation. I'll look in to it.

My older sister has one of the multiple cd things and it drove me crazy! Whenever I would go down to visist she would put multiple ceds in and I couldn't tell what cds were mine. And also a cd got stuck in the back but it didn't break though.

about time the damn thing died. lol I'm better off with a really nice CD player that only plays one CD at a time.

Er, weird. I've had my stereo just over 4 years now since Christmas 2003 and no CDs have fallen inside it yet, though the drawers sometimes stick halfway shut so you do have to push them in, but other than that, it works just great, brilliant bass bost, nice compact little speakers, fairly tactile buttons, single tape deck, very clear analogue fm/mw radio, remote control, everything I could wish for really.

hahaha i was on msn with her when her stereo broke. man. talk about alot of crashing and rattling. but i had 3 multi disc changers and all of them broke. so now i just play my music on my computer, much more convenient. when i want to listen to music in the shower though, depending on my mood, i burn a cd and play it on my little cd player that i take in the bathroom with me.
